Right wing think-tank slams Osbourne's "Help to Buy" scheme

The right-leaning Adam Smith institute has brought out a damning report on the governments "Help to Buy" scheme, with comments including:

- The scheme redistributes wealth from taxpayers to house buyers,

- it will create the possibility of significant contingent liabilities for the British taxpayer

- socialises the cost of what ought to be private transactions

It sums up the situation simply: "government is not the solution to the housing crisis: government is the housing crisis".
